"The show must go on!" said the cleaners at last week's Academy Awards.

Most of us just saw all the glitz and glamour on Oscars night but we hear that if it hadn't been for the cleaning staff, the event would have lost some of its sparkle...

oscars-cleaning.jpgAccording to The Independent, those arriving for Hollywood's most glittering occasion of the year - the 85th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles - had to hitch up their enormously expensive dresses and pick their way in their fabulous shoes through inch-deep water that had flooded the ladies washrooms and flowed into the lobby.

Lynette Rice tweeted a picture of the cleaning staff frantically sweeping the water away just prior to the opening curtain, with the caption: "Flood at the Oscars! Great day to be a star." Well - while they might not have graced the stage, no-one can argue that those cleaners weren't the real stars of the night!
