LPM wins major contract with Communisis

LPM Cleaning & Support Services, the nationwide contract cleaning and janitorial supplies business, has won a major new contract to provide cleaning services for Communisis - the marketing communications services provider - at two of its main facilities in Leeds.

The contract, awarded in December 2012, required a co-ordinated mobilisation programme overseen by LPM's Training & Mobilisation Manager Nicola Tomlinson. Nicola was responsible for recruiting a team of 12 which is divided between the two sites - the Communisis' Head Office and its main print centre in Cross Gates.

Part of the mobilisation programme included making sure that each member of the workforce was vetted and Disclosure & Barring Service checked, given the sensitive nature of the data that Communisis is responsible for, and receiving the necessary site-specific training.

The cleaning teams, which were in place within four weeks of the contract being awarded, are now responsible for all the general cleaning duties both in the offices and on the print centre's floor, and between them operate a 16-hour working day, six days a week.

Joe Read, Sales & Operations Director of LPM, believes that the commitment to investing not just in people but also in technology are both key to the company's success: "The print management centre, in particular, is a demanding environment and requires the right people and the right type of equipment for the team to clean effectively," he says.

In addition to changing its cleaning partner, Communsis also tendered the contract for the provision of security at its two Leeds sites. The contact was subsequently awarded to Axis Security, LPM's sister business and one of the UK's leading providers of bespoke security solutions with a nationwide presence.
