Welcome to the final issue of this year’s ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam Daily. I have to apologise for any spelling mistakes etc that you’ve had to put up with over the week but we’ve had to work long and unusual hours – often after a beer or three and a nice dinner. These things make it rather hard to concentrate, which means that trying to get everything done in time has been exhausting. And I don’t really like to admit it but ‘doing a show’ seems to get harder the older you get… (but it’s still fun).

I had realised I’d misspelt ‘pursue’ in one piece yesterday and asked John to alter it but he forgot –  of course the pace at which we’ve had to work this week takes its toll on the memory. But before I was able to grumble, he told me to say in my leader that I’d been writing Double Dutch and we both burst out laughing, so Double Dutch is my excuse then!

Our final evening was spent in great company on the Hako boat trip where we were wined and dined as we toured the harbour areas – a part of Amsterdam I’d not seen before. Something else I’d not seen before (and probably never will again!) was my dessert rising up from the bowels of a boat, sparklers being lit by chefs wearing whites, to the boom of 'Thus Sprach Zarathustra' (2001 Space Odyssey theme)... a truly awesome end to a great show!

If you’re reading this from the show and are travelling home later, do have a safe trip and we hope to see you in Amsterdam in 2014.

Yours,
