Bunzl buys Belgian janitorial supply business
Bunzl announced yesterday that it has purchased Belgian janitorial supply company Polaris Chemicals SPRL.
Based near Brussels, the company sells a variety of products from such manufacturers as Lucart, Unger, Numatic, Floorpul, GreenCare, Ecolab and Vikan, to name just a few, to both redistributors and end users, including government and education establishments, retirement homes and cleaning companies, throughout the Brussels and Walloon regions of Belgium. Revenue in 2015 was £3 million.
"The purchase of Polaris has brought additional scale to our cleaning & hygiene supplies business in Belgium and further expands our product offering," said Frank van Zanten, chief executive of Bunzl. "We welcome all of their employees to the Group."
Bunzl has now acquired five businesses so far this year with a total committed spend of approximately £80 million. With an active acquisition pipeline and ongoing discussions taking place, the company expects to complete further acquisitions in the second half of the year.
