Greyland 'wins gold' from supplier to the London Olympics

The Supplies House is Greyland's biggest distributor customer so when the call came in that the cleaning contractor at the London Olympics was about to run out of soap, it's no surprise that the delivery was made the very next morning!

This example just serves to illustrate that "using Greyland as your warehouse" is not just an empty phrase!

Not only is The Supplies House Greyland's biggest customer, but they were also one of the very first. Managing Director Brian Chapman recalls training the young Richard Dyson when they were both working for Dymachem, and following the collapse of that business, Brian placed his company's orders with the fledgling Greyland cleaning chemicals manufacturing business where Richard now worked.

"We are very comfortable with Greyland", says Brian, "Yes, it helps that we go back a long way personally, but in the business world we make our decisions based upon the best rationale, not on emotions. Greyland provide a quality service, best prices, and the products, both own label and Greyland brand, are excellent.

"They have also made some bespoke products for us, and again the service all the way from formulation through to testing, packaging, and final delivery has been faultless.

"We do carry a large stock ourselves, but it's true to say that the Greyland 'warehousing' is also an important factor in our increasing business with them. For instance, we ourselves supply one of the country's biggest contract cleaners, and deliver direct to all 600 of their sites. It doesn't matter if it's a couple of pallet loads or a single box, we do not let them down, and it's a comfort to know that we in turn have solid back-up from Greyland."

In addition to supplying to the London Olympics, Supplies House also counts Wembley, the O2 (Europe's busiest live music venue) and several other football stadiums amongst its regular customers.

The Suppies House has two depots, one in London and another in Derby, with a sales office in Preston, and has grown to an impressive £5m turnover, employing just 20 staff. In answer to the question, how did you do that, Brian will tell you simply: "We have grown by doing what we do, really well."
