ISSA's Mark Armitage to retire
Although he’d warned us at the last ISSA/Interclean in Amsterdam that it was coming, Cleanzine was sad to learn that popular international cleaning industry figure Mark Armitage, has officially announced that he will be retiring from his position as ISSA Director of Exhibition Services (Europe) with effect from 30th June 2012.
During his time with ISSA, Mark has opened the organisation’s first office in Europe and has helped to develop membership, alliances with other associations and supported US exhibitors at trade shows around Europe - and, notably, ISSA/Interclean Shows in Amsterdam and Warsaw.
“Next week’s ISSA/Interclean Show in Amsterdam will be Mark’s ‘swansong’ and an opportunity for him to say his farewells to colleagues and friends he has made over the past 14 years,” says Keith Baker Director of EMEA Services, ISSA. “We say, ‘Congratulations and thanks’ to Mark for his service to ISSA and wish him a long and happy retirement.”
We on Cleanzine have enjoyed working with Mark, who, however busy he was, always took the time and trouble to make people welcome and ensure that they had everything they needed. We wish him well and hope that he and his family have many happy years ahead of them. We doubt that he’ll turn his back on the industry completely though – he has far too many friends in it - and are hoping that we’ll be seeing his bicycle propped up against the railings of the RAI exhibition and conference centre again in two years time…
