Donna's shining in her new job

* Donna-shining.jpgA Bootle woman who has spent the last nine years looking for a job has finally succeeded and, according to her boss, is really shining in her new role.

Donna Reynolds, who has spent years applying for vacancies, is now employed by Alpha Cleaning Services, which undertakes commercial contracts in offices and business premises throughout the North West. She is learning many new skills and has already been earmarked for promotion.

Donna was supported into work by Ingeus, which delivers the Government's Work Programme across the North West. Ingeus helped her develop her CV and, most importantly, worked with her to improve her self-confidence which Donna admits was at an all time low.

"I desperately wanted to feel useful and have a sense of purpose," she confesses. "However, sitting in my front room day after day, I was beginning to think I was unemployable. And with two children to support, the financial pressures were intense."

Through a series of practical sessions, Ingeus also helped Donna learn effective interview skills, which stood her in good stead when she applied for the vacancy at Alpha Cleaning Services.

"Ingeus knew we were looking for enthusiastic and capable people to join our team," says Alpha's director Veronica Marten. "Donna had previous cleaning experience to offer, and her considerable efforts to get a job proved to me that she was determined and hardworking."

Ingeus works with businesses throughout the North West to understand their recruitment needs, and then offer job-ready people for interview when vacancies arise.

"They know the kind of people we want in our company - Donna is proof of that," adds Veronica. "Over the past few months, we have offered jobs to several people as a result of our close relationship with Ingeus. This means that, rather than sifting through hundreds of applications forms, I can make better use of my time running our business. The service is a real help to us."

Ingeus is one of the UK's leading welfare-to-work providers, delivering the Government's Work Programme to support unemployed people into lasting work. The company offers a free recruitment service to employers which ranges from CV-sifting to hosting full recruitment days and continues to support new employees for up to two years once they start work, helping employers to increase staff retention.
