Regulatory specialist launches health & safety package

A fixed-price health and safety package for businesses has been developed by Stephensons Solicitors.

Called Safe Assist, the legal package provides a bespoke range of health & safety services to businesses. It is provided by advisers with the relevant knowledge, experience and expertise to assist businesses to proactively manage risks to health, safety and welfare.

"In 2010/11, 26.4 million working days were lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury," warns Karen Baron, business management cnsultant at Stephensons. "In 2009/10, workplace injuries and ill-health (excluding cancer) cost society an estimated £14 billion. The impact of health & safety on a business cannot be underestimated. Our new product, Safe Assist, will enable businesses to stay on top of their moral and legal obligations and ensure they do not become another statistic."

The package has been developed in response to the growing number of regulatory and health & safety defence cases being handled by the firm's regulatory team.

Businesses which find themselves under increasing red tape may find it hard to maintain compliance with such a flood of regulations. This can lead to prosecution, heavy fines and even prison sentences in serious cases.

Three levels of the Safe Assist package have been developed to suit businesses at different stages of health & safety compliance.

'Pulse Check' is aimed at businesses which want to have a general overview of how health & safety applies to their business and what action they need to take. An employer handbook and a suite of health & safety forms is provided to help get started.

'Up & coming' is designed for businesses that need in-depth feedback on their current health & safety management system and are looking for a comprehensive bespoke approach for advice, feedback, documentation to suit the needs of their business. An employer handbook, employee handbook and a suite of forms to suit the business is provided.

'Up & running' is for those who already have a health & safety management system in place and will benefit from a working partnership to ensure that all the requirements of the existing system are met. Coaching and advice is provided to assist the business with the overall management strategy as well as departmental and individual objectives.
