CSSA comments on minimum wage increase

The Cleaning & Support Services Association has welcomed the announcement on changes to the National Minimum Wage rates from October 2012.

Andrew Large, CSSA Chief Executive, commented: "Cleaning businesses will welcome the approach taken towards the 2012 National Minimum Wage rate.

"The LPC has recognised that many firms are facing a tough economic environment, and every effort should be made to preserve jobs and support the fragile recovery.

"While the minimum wage freeze for young people has already faced criticism from some quarters, youth unemployment is at its highest level for a generation and it would be counterproductive to price young people out of a job."
