Camden Council appoints ISS as new facilities management partner

Camden Council has awarded a three-year contract to ISS Facility Services to manage building cleaning, reactive repairs, planned maintenance, helpdesk services, and porterage in 62 schools, 10 children's centres and 162 other council buildings, including libraries and offices.

Camden will move from a range of support contracts with different suppliers into this single contract with ISS, saving money and making for a more streamlined process.

Under the new contract, the council and service users will benefit from:

- Excellent value for money;

- Consistent reporting;

- Reduced administrative work in ordering and payment.

ISS Facility Services is an approved supplier on the Government's facilities framework and the contract was awarded in collaboration with Government Procurement Services. It involved the transfer of more than 200 employees already covering this work, to ISS. ISS consulted the unions on transferring staff and ran a series of roadshows for this group and school staff to make sure that they were clear on the process and to capture their views on how to achieve the best possible results.
