Recognising the best toilets for 25 Years

Nominations and entries are now being received for the 2012 Loo of the Year Awards - the annual competition to find the best places 'to go' in Britain, Ireland and The Channel Islands.

Now celebrating its 25th Anniversary, Loo of the Year Awards is promoted by The British Toilet Association and is run this year in association with Headline Sponsor Lepicol, a probiotic formulation specifically developed to help maintain healthy bowels - naturally. Other sponsors include Clos-o-Mat and Bonasystems.

Media interest in public toilets is at high levels as their number has fallen by 40% in the past 10 years. However, there are thousands of 'away from home' toilets entered annually in the Awards and we know that their standards are improving.

Entries are invited from all categories of away from home toilets and every entry receives an unannounced, dedicated, inspection visit. Entries gaining a bronze, silver, gold or platinum award are presented with a certificate - to help them promote their Award winning facilities to their customers and staff.

The Attendant of the Year Awards form part of Loo of the Year Awards but relate specifically to the cleaning staff that look after facilities, rather than the loos themselves. All attendants and/or cleaning staff will automatically be entered for an Attendant of the Year Award.

Mike Bone, the Awards Managing Director, explains: "Leading cleaning and FM companies, retailers, restaurant and pub chains, shopping centres, leisure and hospitality venues and local authorities etc. recognise the annual Loo of the Year Awards as a proven, cost effective and independent annual assessment of the standard of their toilet provision management and receive proper recognition through our annual grading scheme."

The National and UK awards and trophies for the very best entries will be presented at a special 25th Anniversary Awards Presentation Event, to be held on Friday 7th December at the elegant, four star St Johns Hotel in Solihull.
