Matthew Wonnacott - badly injured but doing well

Many Cleanzine readers around the world will be familiar with Vectair Systems and will have met the Wonnacott team - Paul, his daughter Louise and the most recent addition, his son Matthew - promoting the company and its products at many international exhibitions and making every visitor to the stand feel thoroughly welcome, no matter how many people need looking after.

Sadly, Matthew was left horrendously injured a couple of weeks back by some idiot driver who clearly shouldn't have been behind the wheel of a car. Paul's email to me is below and I trust that whether you know the team or not, you will join John Austen and me in wishing the family well and for Matthew to get back to his old self as quickly as possible. Jan Hobbs

Dear Jan

I wonder if you would be so kind as to do me a small favour?

As you know my son Matthew works with Louise in the business. Two weeks ago he was the victim of a 'hit and run' and left critically ill. He sustained multiple fractures to his neck and back, a broken tibia and left foot as well as eight broken ribs. The worst of his injuries were internal with damage to his spleen, liver and punctures to his right lung which obviously collapsed.

He has been in the ICU at Royal Surrey Hospital since 20th November but was transferred to St Anthony's where he will have surgery this week to repair his lung and his crushed ribs. Although he is still quite poorly he is making good progress and has tried to keep smiling all the way through his ordeal.

There have been so many wonderful wishes and get well messages from the Industry, I was wondering if you could include a few words of gratitude from me in Cleanzine to all those that have enquired and sent messages? I would be most grateful.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Paul Wonnacott, Managing Director & President
