Australian cleaning industry to form umbrella body

The Australian Cleaning Contractors Alliance has been busy over the past year or so assisting in the formation of the Cleaning & Hygiene Council of Australia.

This organisation is being tasked to become the central voice of all participants in the cleaning & hygiene industry and has, as its members, associations including the ACCA, the Building Services Contractors Association of Australia, the National Cleaning Suppliers Association, The International Custodial Advisors Network, the National Upholstery, Carpet Cleaners & Restorers Association and a number of others, all of whom have some relativity to our industry.

"One of our main aims is to upgrade the skills and qualifications of the industry's workers and to have them licensed by CHCA so they can use their skills anywhere in Australia and be immediately recognised as being able to do so", says the Alliance's John Laws. "This process will take some time and a lot of effort to become effective and we need the assistance (voluntary of course) of younger people who see a future in the industry."
