New robot floor cleaners respond dynamically to foot traffic in commercial spaces
BTek Robots has launched its innovative Realtime Responsive Robot (Triple-R) technology, which enables robot floor cleaners to respond dynamically to actual foot traffic in commercial spaces, rather than operating on 'blind' pre-programmed schedules.
This advanced system uses wireless people-counting sensors, strategically placed throughout facilities such as hotels, shopping centres and airports. These sensors feed data into BTek's proprietary BotBinder Hub, a cloud-based platform where all the intelligent decision making happens.
With this new technology, cleaning robots can now detect increased foot traffic and respond immediately. For example, if an entrance lobby experiences an unexpected surge of visitors, it is recognised in real time and the relevant robot is sent an instruction to clean the area right away - preventing dirty floors from lingering until the next scheduled cleaning, which could be hours later.
Conversely, in areas with low foot traffic, BotBinder optimises resource usage by delaying cleaning until sufficient foot traffic is detected. This intelligent approach not only enhances the user experience with cleaner environments but also significantly reduces operational costs.
BotBinder is wirelessly connected to all robot cleaners within a building, facilitating seamless two-way communication. It sends instructions and receives status updates from each unit. Additionally, it can interface with cleaning staff and building management, keeping everyone informed and aligned with real-time operational updates.
The result? Up to 20% cost savings and significantly enhanced cleaning performance, making a compelling case for facilities looking to boost efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
"Firstly, building users experience a higher level of cleanliness because dirty areas get cleaned immediately," explains Matthew Stubbs, CEO of BTek Robots. "Secondly, areas that don't need cleaning are not cleaned, saving on electricity, water, chemicals, wear and tear on brushes, and reducing service and maintenance costs. The robot lasts longer and therefore costs less."
The BotBinder technology operates in the cloud and integrates seamlessly with any cleaning robots that have a cloud-based API. The people-counting sensors employed are standard in the retail industry, making the solution both familiar and efficient.
Currently, BotBinder is integrated with Gausium and Keenon robots. First clients include a prominent UK hotel chain and a large regional shopping centre. BTek is actively rolling out this innovative solution with UK building owners, property managers and FM companies, while also exploring partnerships with additional robot manufacturers.
