Man's vehicle seized for fly-tipping is a first for borough
Thurrock Council says it is continuing to take a no nonsense approach to fly-tipping after a man who dumped garden waste at the roadside became the first person in the borough to have a vehicle seized for the offence.
The waste was found discarded in Parkers Farm Road, Bulphan, and was reported by a resident.
Following an investigation, a white van in Grays was seized in connection with the fly-tip on Monday and a man, who lives in the borough, was interviewed and subsequently fined £400 and ordered to pay £220 costs. In this case, the vehicle will be returned once the fine and costs are paid in full.
