* water-is-life.jpgPhilanthropedia - whose mission it is to improve the effectiveness of non-profit organisations - awarded WaterAid the number one spot in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector after surveying experts to identify who was making the greatest impact.

WaterAid, which is supportedby so many companies in this industry, has been ranked highest of 16 outstanding non-profits working in water, sanitation and hygiene.

The review highlighted that experts value WaterAid's global reach and its work with local partners to further its goals. The experts noted that the organisation is known for its effective advocacy work and extensive field experience, a well as for providing long-lasting, comprehensive solutions.

"We are very proud to be recognised as the global leader in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector and for the transformative effect our work has had in some of the world poorest communities," says Chris Wainwright, WaterAid's Head of Communications.

"We believe that everyone everywhere must have access to sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services by 2030, as this is critical to eradicating extreme poverty."
