Antibacterial composition means machines are food-safe and ideal for hospital use

* No-Bac.jpgIt's not often we see a white floor cleaning machine, so keen to find out more, we stopped to watch Paul Earnshaw of Columbus Cleaning Machines - the exclusive UK agent for the Columbus range of vacuum cleaners, scrubber dryers, single disc rotaries, sweepers and spray extraction machines - demonstrate the ease with which he could manoeuvre the new Columbus RA66/BM60 scrubber dryer.

When we asked about the colour, he explained that it denotes machines which incorporate the noBac system - specially developed for use in hospitals, homes for the elderly, kitchens and the food industry... in other words, every area that has stringent hygienic requirements and the need to meet HACCP regulations.

NoBac tanks are made from polyethylene enriched with an anti-bacterial, inorganic additive that works from the inside out, preventing microbial growth in micro-fissures, dead spots and rough surfaces. Bacteria are prevented from multiplying and are killed.

"The noBac combination of active substances (polyethylene and additive) has been tested in relation to the bacteria strains Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA, as stipulated by ISO 22196," explained Paul as he worked. "Laboratory results confirmed that the efficiency of noBac bacteria strains were reduced by 99.9%.

"The noBac combination of active substances is both food-safe and compatible with every chemical - there are no interactions. The production, use and recycling of the tanks doesn't damage the environment at any point and is non-hazardous to health. NoBac does not have a use-by date; it works for the entire lifespan of the tank. It also protects users against bacteria.

"Other benefits include better hygiene and disinfection, less work cleaning the machines, shorter service times for cleaning tanks and less expenditure on chemicals."

Nobac tanks are available for Columbus scrubber dryers B20, B/BM40 and ARA100 machines, as well as the one shown here.
