Katrin Academy - a real success

* Leiann-Kemp_Jo-Long.jpgThe Katrin Academy will be two years old in May, and Metsa Tissue is pleased to say it's turning out to be a real success.

Aimed at those selling washroom products and those involved in facilities management and/or contract cleaning, the objective of training programme is to provide an intensive day of immersive Katrin training for small groups of people.

The programme includes the chance to understand the industry history, to look at today's product sets and to look forward to the innovation of the future.

The content is very practical, memorable and fun - and along the way, attendees absorb lots of facts, figures and product detail as well as having the chance to practice using this information in a live, but non-customer environment.

"In 2013, we trained another 100 plus industry personnel in the World of Katrin and feedback from customers continues to be extremely positive with attendees saying that they feel both educated and motivated after the session", says Mark Dewick, Metsa Tissue Sales Director for UK & Ireland.

"By sharing experiences in this way, we also learn from attendees experiences and the training is updated all of the time in line with new products, market circumstances and upcoming product sets."

The Academy features a series of challenges, which are scored with prizes for each Academy and a 'best in class for the year' prize. This year, Leiann Kemp from Futures Supplies & Support Services won the annual prize, which was to participate in one of Metsa Tissue's regular trips to visit Metsa's International production facilities. The trips are usually a mix of informative tours and team building exercises. Leiann says, about the Academy:

"I found the whole day really informative and interesting. More importantly, back in my office, I feel much more confident in recommending specific Katrin products for specific functions and can provide much more value to customers through those recommendations.

"I'm also very excited about the trip. I'm told I will see 'paper production in action' and that the team building activities are really good fun."

Jo Long, Account Manager and Katrin Academy Manager at Metsa Tissue says:"Leiann's experience is common and all attendees comment that taking time out to be immersed in the Katrin ethos really pays dividends when they come to use the information in real time. "The training continues to evolve and 2013 saw the inclusion of lots of new and shared materials for the Academy, as well as the introduction of a Katrin Academy Certification process."
The Katrin Academy runs at least monthly, and 2014 will see the addition of new product modules which can be taken individually, as well as the introduction of an approved certification process.
