CMS posts record exhibitor and visitor numbers

... confirming its role as a leading European event for this sector. The event had an even greater international dimension, with highly satisfied exhibitors and visitors keen to sing its praises. It left us all in an extremely positive mood as far as the industry's overall economic outlook is concerned. The organisers tell us that some 361 companies from 20 countries exhibited this year, compared with 354 exhibitors from 19 countries at the last event in 2011.

There was a vast range of products, systems and work methods to be examined, representing the entire range of cleaning systems and cleaning agents, in a busy display area covering 24,700 sq.m. Over the course of the show's four days, around 16,500 trade visitors from 65 countries attended - which is over 7% more than at the last event in 2011, when 15,500 trade visitors from 60 countries attended.

The International CMS Congress celebrated a successful debut, with some 200 senior industry executives from around the world debating issues under the slogan 'Sustainable competitiveness in the cleaning sector', in a global context. The programme of papers provided industry representatives with the latest background information on key topics such as 'Collective wage bargaining policies', 'Hygiene and health' and 'Vocational training'.

Ingrid Maass, Chief Operating Officer of Messe Berlin, reports: "With the innovative products and solutions displayed, the industry showed itself to be amply equipped to face the challenges of the market. The focus was on topics such as sustainability and the related ecological and economic aspects as well as on good design.

"What makes CMS so effective is the presence of trade visitors who are senior decision-makers and the opportunities the fair offers for networking with major industry players. There was also a substantial increase in the volume of international business at the fair.

"The topics at the International CMS Congress, which took place for the first time, were aptly chosen in view of the challenges facing the industry in a globalised market. Messe Berlin will take this into account as it continues to develop the concept of CMS."
