ICMMA launches design award for the Cleaning Show

The Industrial Cleaning Machine Manufacturers Association has announced the launch of its vacuum cleaner design awards for the 2013 Cleaning Show, which is taking place from 19th to 21st March 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham.

The aim of the 2013 award is to stimulate new thinking in the design of low wattage vacuum cleaners. Industrial design students will be asked to submit their designs for assessment by the ICMMA technical committee and the winner will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders to see how their design might be transformed into production.

Speaking at the launch, Andrew Large - Secretary of ICMMA said: "This is a great opportunity for engineering and design students to have their ideas scrutinised by industry leading businesses. The energy consumption of vacuum cleaners is under scrutiny by the European Commission and we look forward to seeing radical new designs that will change our ideas of an industrial vacuum cleaner."

Kevin Webb - Numatic and chairman of the ICMMA Technical Committee added: "I am delighted that Numatic and ICMMA are supporting this award and I am looking forward to seeing some innovative new designs in this century old product category."

The award will be presented at the Cleaning Show by ICMMA to the winning designer or team of designers.

The Industrial Cleaning Machine Manufacturers Association is the trade association for the UK cleaning machine manufacturing and importing members.

The Cleaning Show is a showcase for all products and services used in the cleaning & support services industry. It is the UK's only major event where companies can market, sell and promote their products and services to an international audience.

The exhibition is organised every two years on behalf of the cleaning industry by BCCE, a company jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions.
