Selden acquires Jeyes Professional Division

* Selden_Jeyes.jpgSelden, one of the UK's leading independent producers of chemical cleaning products, has acquired the Jeyes Professional brand from Jeyes Group for an undisclosed sum. Jeyes Professional Division became a wholly owned division of Selden as of Monday, 1st October 2012.

The sale sees manufacture, distribution and administration of Jeyes Professional products for the professional cleaning sector switching to Selden's Derbyshire production plant from sites in Preston, Lancashire and Mold in Wales.

As a result of the purchase, Selden, which scooped FTSE Top 250 FM company MITIE's Supplier of the Year award earlier this year, now holds license to the Jeyes Professional brand in perpetuity and becomes the exclusive distributor of Jeyes retail products, including Jeyes Fluid, Parozone, Bloo and the Shades air freshener brand, into the professional cleaning sector.

The moves also greatly extends Selden's portfolio of professional catering hygiene solutions as well as enabling Selden to offer a complete product package to the laundry market.

"This is a good match for our customers," says Selden Sales Director Mark Woodhead. "This acquisition marks a step change in the already well-respected size and flexibility of Selden's product offer to the professional cleaning market.

"Coupled with Selden's reputation for environmentally sound production, high quality product formulation and innovative use of online customer support technology, the Jeyes Professional Division portfolio represents additional flexibility to help end-users consolidate cleaning product supply through Selden and its distributors."

The purchase sees a number of sales and engineering staff transferring to Selden's Buxton workforce.

Nigel Green, Jeyes Professional 's former Preston-based Commercial Director, says:

"Like Jeyes Professional, Selden products are used and trusted by a wide cross-section of Britain's best-known businesses - we're looking forward to the new opportunities this creates."

Selden has been in continuous private ownership by the Woodhead family since it was founded in 1968. The company currently produces 45 million litres of cleaning products a year from its 150,000 sq ft manufacturing, warehousing and storage facility at the edge of the Peak District National Park in Buxton. The plant is the largest and greenest manufacturing faciility of its type in the UK and one producing near zero emissions thanks to advanced eco-production methods, recycling and solar energy supported production.

Selden's range includes 500 product formulations and the company is ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 accredited as well as being one of the first manufacturers in its sector to achieve Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control accreditation from the Environment Agency.

Jeyes Professional Division was launched by Jeyes Group in 2002 to serve the professional cleaning sector and established as a separate trading entity in 2004.The Jeyes company was founded by entrepreneurial Victorian inventor John Jeyes who patented the first truly effective disinfectant, Jeyes Fluid in 1877. With over 130 years of heritage, the Jeyes name continues to be a hallmark for hygiene and Jeyes Professional Division still strives for excellence in developing best in class formulations for superior cleaning and hygiene performance.
