40 year jubilee for cleaning contractor

When Tony Birkin launched his contract cleaning business in 1972, little did he imagine that 40 years on, the company would be celebrating '40 years of cleaning services you can rely on'.

Over the last 40 years, Birkin Cleaning Services has gained a strong local reputation, managing both large and small cleaning contracts for offices, leisure and education premises across North London and the Northern Home Counties.

In September 2007, after 35 years of managing the company, Gordon and Bruce Birkin, sons of the founder, sold their business to the current owners, Managing Director, Paul Nixon, Finance Director, Paul Hart, and two silent investors.

Although Bruce and Gordon have continued to work in a consultancy capacity, the 'Pauls' have injected significant investment in the company and implemented a series of initiatives to ensure service always meets expectation.

Initiatives include:

- Electronic attendance monitoring system
- Web based quality assurance system
- Staff training regime to develop key skills
- Environmentally friendly chemicals, delivering optimum cleaning solutions
- 'Zero tolerance' security vetting of staff

Since 2007, the company has doubled in size from £3 million to £6 million.

"We are all absolutely delighted to be celebrating 40 years of Birkin Cleaning Services," says Mark Rawlinson, Commercial Director. "This isn't however, just a sign of our ability to deliver high service standards and withstand changing times, it is importantly a testament to the commitment and support shown by our staff and clients - without whom we would not be here today. We would therefore like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff and Clients, past, present and future."
