Improvements means there is now a Tork hand towel roll for every environment
Changes to the Tork hand towel roll system mean that there is now a product for every customer environment, while cost-in-use has been improved and products are now easier to handle for cleaning staff.
Made by SCA, the range now includes a new sensor-operated Tork Elevation dispenser, which means there are now automatic and manual Tork hand towel roll dispensers in both Tork Elevation ABS plastic and stylish Tork Aluminium.
"A touch-free system in any facility helps to reassure the public that hygiene is a key consideration," says SCA product and segment manager Charlotte Branwhite. "The new sensor-operated dispenser is therefore ideal for hygiene-critical environments where image is also important, such as in the reception areas of hotels, offices, hospitals and clinics."
With the launch of the dispenser there is now a Tork hand towel roll system for every type of washroom. The dispenser is available in both black and white and has an improved stub roll feature to ensure that none of the roll is wasted.
Janitorial staff will often discard a roll that is nearly used up which can result in up to 8% of each roll being wasted. The improved stub roll feature allows the old roll to be fitted onto a spindle and used right up to the end.
The system is designed to cut consumption and costs in use while also reducing waste and maximising hygiene. The dispenser presents the washroom user with only one sheet of paper at a time, and each towel is touched only by the user.
The Tork Premium and Tork Advanced towels have a distinctive embossed leaf design to set them apart from other hand towel products. The leaf design comes in lilac, ice blue or silver depending on the grade of paper.
The Tork hand towel roll range comprises Tork Premium Hand Towel Roll which is a 2-ply through-air-dried product (TAD); 2-ply Tork Advanced Hand Towel Roll which is a combination of tissue and TAD layer; and Tork Universal, a 1-ply TAD towel. TAD products are ultra-soft, highly absorbent and pleasant to touch.
The length of the Tork Universal Hand Towel Roll has also been increased from 190m to 300m.
"It is the same quality product as before, but we have used stretching technology to increase the length of the roll by 58%," explains Charlotte. "This reduces maintenance costs since the dispensers now need to be refilled less frequently."
A case of Tork Universal refills now contains 7,344 sheets of paper - which is more than double the 3,000 sheets of folded hand towels contained in a standard case. This means that storage and handling costs are more than halved by switching to the new roll. "Time is literally money in the facilities management market, so this reduction in refilling time is a major benefit," says Charlotte.
The longer rolls also help to reduce customers' waste disposable bills, since there is now less packaging per metre of roll. The packaging for refills has also been redesigned to make the boxes both easier to open and carry. Tork Easy Handling boxes feature a perforated flap which means that a knife is no longer required to open them, and handles have been cut into each box to allow the cleaner to carry two at a time.
"We are always seeking to add value to the brand and these little touches make a huge difference," reveals Charlotte. "We have used our own insight into what customers want and instigated these changes to improve efficiency, reduce maintenance and improve the life of the cleaner."
All five refills hold environmental accreditations in support of the SCA 'A sustainable choice is in your hands' campaign, which means that choosing Tork can help the customer meet sustainability targets. Tork Premium and Tork Universal Hand Towel Rolls are both FSC accredited while all three Tork Advanced Hand Towel Rolls hold the EU Ecolabel.
