G4S ends ISS deal. British security group G4S announced yesterday that it had ended a deal to buy Danish facilities group ISS for £5.2 billion on shareholder concerns at the size of the takeover amid economic uncertainty. The shock announcement comes one day before G4S shareholders had been due to vote on whether to approve the deal, which needed 75 percent support.

G4S had on October 17 announced its plans to create the world's largest security and facilities firm.

Some 12,000 office cleaners in the US states of Washington, Maryland and Virginia have won a four-year contract that guarantees pay rises averaging 4% p.a. and averts strike action.

Emprise Services has won the support services contract at the Royal Bank of Canada's 200,000 sq ft London offices.
