Welcome to the
Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news
Read by industry professionals in 132 countries worldwide!
This will be the last broadcast issue of Cleanzine until 1st September as John and I are taking time out for some IT housekeeping and back office work. I leave my desk for now with a heavy heart knowing that the world is watching us in England, no doubt as horrified as the majority of us here are, about the rioting that has spread to many parts of the country
Cleaning (and clearing up) is a difficult enough job to do at the best of times but when the cleaning involves tons of deliberately broken glass and burnt out cars and buildings, it takes on a whole new aspect.
I had spent the last couple of days wondering how on earth our cleaning teams were going to cope when I saw on the news that several of the 'nicer' citizens of London had used social networking - so damned for the part it played in gathering the rioters to do their dirty deeds - to set up groups that would summon other decent people to start the clean up.
Our picture - courtesy of the BBC - shows one of these groups greeting London Mayor Boris Johnson, as he arrives; broom in hand, to help.
I pray that when I return, things are back to normal and that the only cleaning needed, is of the more general sort.
Do please keep your news coming in over the next couple of weeks as we will be checking our emails and do keep an eye on our website as we'll post any major breaking news as it happens.
Wherever you are in the world, stay safe and if you're taking a break of any sort, have fun and try and make the most of it!
