Vectair Systems' V-Air Solid wins 'Carbon Footprint' approval

* Vectair-Systems-V.jpgVectair System's flagship environmentally-friendly and non-aerosol aircare product V-Air Solid has been awarded the latest internationally recognised standard for demonstrating low carbon credentials.

V-Air Solid is now 'Carbon Footprint Approved' after being CO2e assessed to the latest Carbon Footprint Standard 2017.

An independent organisation conducted a life cycle assessment on both the V-Air Solid non-battery dispenser and the fragrance refill cartridge, which focused on the embodied raw material emissions, the raw material transport, manufacture and product distribution emissions as well as the disposal of materials. The environmental impact of V-Air Solid on climate change during its lifecycle was then calculated by Carbon Footprint's team of specialist greenhouse gas emission assessors.

To qualify for the 'Carbon Footprint Standard - CO2e Assessed', the footprint assessment had to be completed against one of the leading internationally recognised methodologies - including PAS 2050:2011, ISO14001:2015 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Standard.

Global warming is primarily a problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This carbon overload is caused mainly when we burn fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas or cut down and burn forests. In 2014, The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) published the 5th Assessment report on climate change based on long-term scientific evidence. This stated that the increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations (namely carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) over the past 100 years has predominantly been caused by human activities.

Paul Wonnacott, managing director and president, Vectair Systems says: "The Carbon Footprint Standard is recognition of an organisation's commitment to carbon management. We have made a commitment with our air freshener V-Air Solid to offer the most environmentally-friendly solution possible to our customers and I am pleased to say that both the dispenser and refill are officially Carbon Approved to the latest 2017 test standard.

"Having already won a coveted Green Apple environment award, we wanted to go one step further and robustly demonstrate our true low carbon credentials."

The assessment was carried out by Carbon Footprint, a founding member of the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) for carbon offsetting. Carbon Footprint also runs the Carbon Academy for peer group learning, chairs the Sustainable Business Network in its region, and provides input and advice to the UK Government on Low Carbon legislation.
