Bonasystems wins nationwide slip management contract with Mitchells & Butlers

* Bona-Harvester-customers.jpgBonasystems, a market leader in cleaning and anti-slip products, services and consulting, has won a prestigious contract with Mitchells & Butlers to provide slip prevention solutions to 400 of its outlets. Mitchells & Butlers is one of the UK's largest operators of restaurants, bars and pubs in the UK and its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Harvester, Toby Carvery, All Bar One and O'Neills.

Bonasystems has been engaged to provide slip prevention consultancy, anti-slip treatments and best-practice floor maintenance regimes. It follows a trial across a dozen Mitchells & Butlers' sites where Bonasystems' solutions led to a 60% reduction in slip accidents.

Bonasystems estimates that the initial treatments will take up to 12 months via a dedicated team of operatives. It will then train Mitchells & Butlers' own staff and cleaning contractors on a bespoke post-treatment maintenance regime and the use of its own specialist cleaning products.

"Front-of-house and high footfall areas in restaurants and pubs are well-known as higher-risk areas for slips and trips," notes Darren Read, health & safety manager at Mitchells & Butlers. "We wanted to make sure that we were using the very latest techniques and technology to actively manage those areas and provide a safe and healthy environment for our customers and staff.

"We've been very impressed with the results that Bonasystems have achieved so far and by their clear expertise in this area."

Christian Harris, commercial director of Bonasystems, comments: "Slips and trips are still the biggest cause of work-based accidents in the UK, with over 95% causing broken bones. With the possibility of new multi-million pound fines for companies breaching health & safety standards, it is even more important for companies to reassess their slip management strategies.

"We take an individual approach to each of our clients - our team is able to give a detailed assessment of each flooring environment and recommend a variety of treatments or cleaning regimes suitable to each one. Mitchells & Butlers are taking a pioneering, pro-active step to manage the potential risk of harm to their customers and staff."

Bonasystems works with a wide variety of clients across multiple sectors in the UK as well as South Africa, Italy, The Netherlands and Ireland. Its client list includes some the UK's best known brands such as Sainsbury's, ASDA, Virgin Active, Hilton Worldwide, Network Rail and Land Securities. It sponsors Sporta, The Loo of the Year Awards and The Springboard Best Housekeeping Strategy Award.
