Cleanzine - the original Cleaning & Hygiene industry e-news

Read by industry professionals in 163 countries worldwide!

Well – it’s finally upon us… One of the cleaning industry’s eagerly anticipated highlights – ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam, kicks off on Tuesday morning and it will look nothing like the images you see here, which were posted on the organiser’s Facebook page a week ago. The halls will be packed from floor (and in some cases) to ceiling with the latest offerings from more than 650 leading global brands and the aisles filled with some 28,000 visitors from 130 countries over the four days the event takes up.

Am I the only one who thinks the pictures make the halls look so much smaller than they actually are? When you’re walking the floor, it feels as if the show stretches for miles. There’s always so much to see, so many people to talk to and not enough time to do all you need to.

* Interclean-setup.jpg

This is the first year in the 14 Cleanzine has been broadcasting, that we won’t be producing a ‘Show Daily’ and I have to say that I’m relieved that for once I’ll be able to spend more time looking around the stands and enjoying the show, without having to worry that I’ve got (or perhaps not got) enough copy for the following morning’s issue. John and I will also be able to enjoy our evenings in Amsterdam with our many industry friends and colleagues from around the world, without having to head back to our respective rooms early to get on with our work. We may have been bleary eyed throughout the last seven Amsterdam shows but I can assure you it wasn’t excess alcohol and a night on the tiles which had made us that way! I for one am thoroughly looking forward to the change…

If you’re attending the show, I hope it’s everything you want it to be and please make sure you say ‘hello’ if you see us there. We always like meeting Cleanzine’s readers and learning about what industry issues are important to you.

Please get in touch either by emailing me or posting a comment on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/Cleanzine

Karcher: already cleaning up in Amsterdam!

At this year's ISSA/Interclean trade fair in Amsterdam, on a trade stand the size of 9 tennis courts, Karcher will be presenting two Innovation Award Finalists alongside 125 other innovative machines and services. In advance of the show, the team from Karcher Netherlands have been helping prepare the city for the influx of some 29,000 pairs of feet. You can see how here: https://youtu.be/

Among the high-performance cleaning technologies on its 770-square-metre stand will be the BRC 40/22 C carpet cleaner, which features a brush head that rotates through 200°, making the machine exceptionally manoeuvrable. Historic tiled floors restored to 'good as new' condition

* Victorian-floor-before-after.jpgVictorian tiled floors can be really beautiful but sadly they're often not maintained as they should be... They eventually become so dilapidated that the building owners feel they have no choice but to rip them up and replace them with something easier to maintain.

There is another option though. The team at Heritage Tiling aims to restore as many historic tiled floors and walls as it can, thus enabling the tiles to be viewed and enjoyed once more.

You can't trust 'approximate'... Trust the CHSA Accreditation Scheme Marque

* CHSA-CM-std.jpgLabels that state an approximate length, width, count or weight cannot be trusted according to the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers' Association. The only way buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can guarantee they get what they pay for is to buy product stamped with the Marque of the CHSA's Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Schemes.

As well as auditing members the CHSA's Accreditation Schemes for Soft Tissue, Plastic Refuse Sacks and Industrial Cotton Mops, the CHSA's Independent Inspector, Martin Yates, also regularly spot checks non-member products. He is raising this issue after noticing a growing number of products labeled with only 'approximate' dimension, count and weight.

"This is active research which is beneficial at the same time. In the Denver trial the mobile unit is available from 12 midday to 12 midnight complete with an attendant. Worth considering?
