By the third day, this had changed to a sentiment of regret that over these 20 years, we'd allowed ourselves to miss out on something rather special. Pulire is not an Italian show but an international event that happens to be based in the beautiful Italian city of Verona. It's big, well organised, exciting, informative and there's plenty to see that's new. And as at other shows, we bumped into plenty of Brits both on the stands and in the aisles, so it's clear that John and I aren't the only ones from these parts to see the value of visiting this event. And of course there were thousands of other 'foreign nationals' too. By the time I left school, I was near fluent in both French and German but was never given the chance to learn Italian. Consider that imbalance redressed. By the time I attend Pulire 2013 I'll be able to utter a great deal more than 'buon giorno'! I think that says it all, doesn't it? As well a bringing you this week's news in today's issue, we continue our 'Official Daily' on the event and include the results of the various awards that were fought over and presented, together with information on some of the exhibitors and the best new products we encountered. AFIDAMP, The Italian Association of Professional Cleaning Equipment Manufacturers, has just released its latest market report and the good news is that Italy's professional cleaning machine, equipment and products industry ended 2010 on the upswing. It recorded total sales of €1,470 million, of which 49% is allocated to export, +8% for the machines segment, +4% for tools, -3% for chemical products and fibres and -4% textile supplies. On the whole, the industry reported revenue of € 1,469,147,677 in 2010 and marked the start of a slight but significant upswing, which does not bring the market back to pre-crisis levels, but allows it to partially recover from the losses incurred in 2009. Perception is not reality, but Enhance 'SCOR's in London The perception of cleaning a new building is that it is easy, but in reality this is quite the opposite. SCOR, the French re-insurance group, was the first tenant in five floors of new Lime Street offices in the City of London. Keeping the premises in pristine condition for 130 staff is not easy because every little mark or spill shows much more than in older buildings.
